Israeli Airstrikes Hit Multiple Cities Across Lebanon

Israel has intensified its military campaign across Lebanon, launching wide-ranging strikes on Beirut, Tyre, and the Bekaa Valley, whereas threatening a “full occupation” of the country to disarm Hezbollah.

The escalation has seen targeted raids in the city of Tyre and its outskirts following evacuation warnings issued to residents. The human cost of the offensive continues to mount, with recent reports confirming that two young girls were killed and 40 others injured in two separate Israeli raids in southern Lebanon.

In Beirut, explosions rocked the city as Israeli forces targeted the southern suburbs. Additional strikes were reported in eastern Lebanon, where the Israeli military destroyed a bridge.

The military offensive is accompanied by severe strategic threats from Israeli leadership. Defense Minister Israel Katz has warned of an expanded war, stating that homes in Lebanese border villages used by Hezbollah will be demolished. Katz explicitly compared the planned operations to the tactics used by the Israeli military in Rafah and Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip. These statements follow similar warnings from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the expansion of a “buffer zone” in southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah has vowed a fierce resistance to these plans. The group’s parliamentary bloc responded to the threats by asserting that any attempt to establish a buffer zone south of the Litani River would serve as a “graveyard for invaders.” Hezbollah continues to engage Israeli forces through rocket and drone attacks, as well as direct clashes with ground troops.

The scale of the conflict has grown rapidly since March 2, 2026, with 1,368 people killed and thousands more wounded in Lebanon. The Israeli military announced on April 3, 2026, that it had struck 3,500 targets in Lebanon over the course of a month. In response, Hezbollah reported conducting 1,309 operations, half of which targeted towns and military sites within Israel.

On the ground, four Israeli military teams are currently working to expand their incursion into southern Lebanon. But, the advance has been met with intense fighting; Tel Aviv has acknowledged that 10 Israeli soldiers have been killed in these clashes to date.

This escalation underscores a deepening regional crisis as Israel seeks to neutralize Hezbollah’s capabilities through a combination of aerial bombardment and ground maneuvers, while Hezbollah remains committed to preventing a permanent Israeli presence on Lebanese soil.
