Lustenau Dominates Set Pieces

The visitors started brightly, with Thomas Maier firing an early shot that didn’t trouble Domenik Schierl in goal (2nd minute). However, Austria Lustenau quickly took control, with Abubakar finding space in the 15th minute, only to be denied by a solid save from KSV keeper Colic.

As the first half wore on, Lustenau increasingly threatened, particularly from set pieces delivered by Lukas Ibertsberger. Bouchenna narrowly missed connecting with one such delivery in the 32nd minute, and Wade saw his close-range header sensationally saved by Colic in the 41st minute. Lustenau’s Asumah Abubakar then sent a direct free kick just over the bar before halftime (45th minute).

Shortly after the restart, KSV’s Vinko Colic brought down Abubakar in the penalty area. After a moment’s hesitation, the referee pointed to the spot, and William Rodrigues confidently converted the penalty, giving Lustenau a 1-0 lead in the 53rd minute.

Ibrahim Ouattara briefly extended the lead, but his goal was ruled out by the officiating crew. The advantage proved short-lived, as Meletios Miskovic leveled the score with a powerful strike from 18 meters in the 60th minute.

The final stages of the match were evenly contested, with chances for both sides. A KSV header went narrowly wide, while Vucenovic’s shot created danger for the hosts in the 78th minute.

The match exploded into a dramatic finish in stoppage time. Pius Grabher, in his 300th appearance for Lustenau, scored a stunning goal to make it 2-1 in the 93rd minute. Seconds later, a KSV header was disallowed for offside. The KSV coach, Vladimir Petrovic, was shown a red card after vehemently protesting the decision.
