The United Arab Emirates national team coaching staff, led by Romanian manager Cosmin, has called up Sharjah goalkeeper Adel Al-Hosani to the squad for the upcoming Arab Cup, set to be held in Qatar this December.
The national team began a short training camp in Dubai on Wednesday with 22 players in attendance, with Al Wasl players Ali Saleh and Nicolas Jimenez expected to join after their club’s Asian Champions League match against Iranian side Esteghlal.
The camp is part of the team’s preparations for traveling to Doha on Friday to participate in the 2025 Arab Cup, scheduled for December 1-18. The UAE will compete in Group Three alongside Egypt, Jordan, and Kuwait.
The team held its first training session Wednesday at the Dubai Police Officers Club, focusing on technical, physical, and tactical preparations for the tournament. Their opening match is scheduled for December 3rd against Jordan.
Positive results for Emirati clubs in the fifth round of the Asian Champions League are expected to provide a significant morale boost for the national team players. Sharjah secured a historic 1-0 victory over Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli, with Othman Kamara scoring the winning goal. Meanwhile, Shabab Al-Ahli defeated Al-Gharafa of Qatar 2-0, and Al-Wahda earned a convincing 3-1 win against Al-Sadd, also of Qatar.
