Medical teams assisting at the Prislop Monastery during ceremonies celebrating the canonization of Arsenie Boca provided aid to 24 pilgrims on Friday, with two individuals – an adult and a child – transported to a hospital for further evaluation, according to ISU Hunedoara.
A total of 24 people received medical attention on Friday, including 22 adults and 2 children. Of those, a 13-year-old child and one adult were taken to the hospital for additional tests, sources confirmed to News.ro.
ISU Hunedoara reported that, in addition to firefighters, medical personnel from the Hunedoara County Ambulance Service and the UPU – SMURD, as well as representatives from the “SALVITAL” Association, were on site to assist those in need.
“Our colleagues will remain at Prislop until Sunday to ensure every moment of this event unfolds under the best possible conditions,” representatives from ISU assured.
They also issued several recommendations for pilgrims: “Use lit candles and tapers with caution; avoid carrying lit candles in vehicles; keep evacuation routes clear; and park in a way that allows emergency vehicles access at all times.”
More than 15,000 worshippers attended Friday’s local proclamation ceremony recognizing Saint Arsenie of Prislop as a saint. The event marks a significant moment for the Romanian Orthodox Church and its followers.
In mid-July of last year, the Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church approved 16 canonizations, including those of Dumitru Stăniloae, Arsenie Boca, and Ilie Cleopa. According to the BOR’s decision, Father Arsenie Boca was canonized with the title “Saint Arsenie the Confessor of Prislop” and is celebrated on November 28th.
