Manchester City cruised to a 3-0 victory over West Ham United on Sunday, fueled by another dominant performance from Erling Haaland. The young striker found the back of the net twice – once in each half – bringing his season tally to an impressive 19 goals in just 17 appearances. Haaland also added an assist, setting up teammate Tijani Reinaders in the comfortable win at the Etihad Stadium.

Haaland’s brace takes his goal count to 38 in 28 games for both Manchester City and the Norwegian national team this year. This prolific form comes as the season progresses, and with a potential first-ever World Cup appearance for Norway looming, Haaland is showcasing his world-class ability. The result keeps City firmly in contention for the Premier League title.

The Norwegian international also reached a significant milestone, surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo’s Premier League goal record. Haaland now has 104 goals in the English top flight, achieving the feat in 114 appearances – a remarkable 122 games fewer than it took Ronaldo to reach the same number during his time with Manchester United and other clubs.

To put that into perspective, Haaland scored his 104 goals in 114 matches, while Ronaldo needed 236 games to reach 103. While Haaland’s goal-scoring record is exceptional, he currently has 21 assists compared to Ronaldo’s 47.

Haaland opened the scoring in the 5th minute, capitalizing on a cross from Phil Foden. He then doubled the lead in the 69th minute, exploiting defensive confusion to complete his brace. In between, he provided the assist for Reinaders to extend City’s advantage.

The win solidifies Manchester City’s position near the top of the Premier League table and further highlights Haaland’s impact since joining the club.
