Villach,Austria – The EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV announced today a mutual contract termination with defenseman Arturs Kulda,a move signaling a shift in the team’s defensive strategy. The decision allows the VSV to prioritize the progress of young talent emerging from their affiliated clubs in Kitzbühel and Zell am See, both competing in the Alps hockey League. Alongside kulda’s departure, the association has solidified it’s commitment to its rising stars with a two-year contract extension for defenseman julian Raspotnig, ensuring a continued focus on building from within.

The EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV and defenseman Arturs Kulda have agreed to mutually terminate their player contract, the team announced today.

The move comes as young defensemen within the organization’s partner clubs, Kitzbühel and Zell am See in the Alps Hockey League, have shown significant development. In a related announcement, the VSV confirmed a two-year contract extension for up-and-coming defenseman Julian Raspotnig.

“Arturs joined us at the end of October due to our injury situation and was a great help to the team during that period,” said Managing Director Martin Winkler. “Fortunately, the lineup has now become more relaxed. Julian Raspotnig (contracted through 2027/28) and Nico Uschan (contracted through 2027/28) have multi-year contracts with the EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV and are a central part of our sporting future planning. Our clear goal is to give these players more ice time at the highest level in the remaining games of the current season, allowing them to compete for a permanent spot in the EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV defense next season.”

The EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV thanked Arturs Kulda for his commitment and professionalism during his time in Villach and wishes him all the best for his future, both professionally and personally.
