The allegations, which surfaced Monday, are being investigated by the Spanish National Court, confirmed by the Fiscalía. A former domestic employee and a physiotherapist claim the 82-year-old singer committed sexual assault and workplace abuse in 2021.
Journalist Paloma García-Pelayo reported on the program ‘Y ahora Sonsoles’ that Iglesias is placing his full trust in his legal team to address the accusations. “Julio is worried, that’s what I’m being told. He’s worried first about the international impact, because his image has absolutely collapsed today, internationally speaking,” García-Pelayo stated.
“He has his lawyers working on this full force to respond to the accusations. I believe, for the first time, he is more concerned than he has been in the past,” she added.
However, Leticia Requejo, a contributor to Telecinco, asserted that the singer is “calm” and “not worried at all,” though sources close to Iglesias acknowledged the news came as a “shock.”
Requejo suggested the former employees may be motivated by resentment. “They don’t know why they are lying, but perhaps they are speaking from a place of resentment, because their working relationship with Julio Iglesias ended when they weren’t efficient or good at their respective jobs,” she said on the program ‘El tiempo justo.’
The news comes as the entertainment industry continues to grapple with issues of workplace conduct and accountability. The investigation is ongoing, and Iglesias has not yet publicly commented on the specific allegations.
