Lebanese City of Tripoli Reels After Building Collapse

At least nine people have died after a residential building collapsed in Tripoli, Lebanon, on Sunday, February 9, 2026, according to Al Jazeera. Rescue operations have concluded, but the incident has sparked public outrage and prompted an official investigation.

The collapse has ignited anger among residents, with many expressing frustration over the state of infrastructure and building safety in the city, as reported by MTV Lebanon.

Jordan has offered assistance to Lebanon following the tragedy, according to Al Ghad.

The Tripoli Bar Association has announced a halt to court appearances on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, and is developing an emergency plan to address the issue of dilapidated buildings, as reported by The National News Agency.

This incident underscores the ongoing challenges facing Lebanon’s infrastructure and the urgent need for building safety measures.
