Chilean journalist Eduardo Fuentes revealed he has identified the individual behind a death threat he received on the X platform (formerly Twitter). The news comes as online harassment of public figures continues to draw scrutiny.

Fuentes addressed the issue during the February 10, 2026, broadcast of Buenos Días a Todos, sharing details with experts including Eduardo Labarca, a retired Prefect of the Investigative Police (PDI).

On air, the journalist acknowledged that these types of incidents are not new to him, stating, “It’s not the first time, but it’s always unpleasant.”

He explained that “they did a check, I don’t recognize if legal or illegal, but they managed to find the name of the person behind that account, which I will be handing over to the authorities.”

According to Fuentes, the individual resides in the commune of San Felipe, information that will also be provided to the PDI.

Eduardo Fuentes invited other involved parties to file reports

The threat originated when a user on X asked who they would eliminate if they were a dictator.

Another user responded by including Eduardo Fuentes, along with Francisco Vidal, Gaspar Rivas, Maite Orsini, and María Godoy, on their list.

Fuentes assured viewers: “This type of thing doesn’t scare me at all, because I know that those who do this are cowards who hide behind a keyboard, and channel their frustrations through it.”

The journalist also called on parents to monitor their children’s access to social media and invited the other individuals named in the post to join him in filing a report.
