Two six-year-old twin brothers narrowly avoided serious injury after jumping from a moving vehicle in Francisco Beltrão, in the state of Paraná, Brazil, on January 17. The incident, captured on security camera footage, unfolded when one of the boys released the car’s parking brake although playing inside.

The vehicle began to roll down a hill toward a ravine, prompting both children to leap out. The car ultimately overturned, but neither boy sustained any injuries. The father, Willian Furlan, rushed to the scene after hearing his sons’ screams.
“I thought everything was okay,” Furlan said in an interview. “Suddenly, I heard them shouting. By the time I got there, the car was already going down the hill. I started yelling at them to get out of the car.”

Furlan had briefly left the children listening to music in the car while he retrieved an item from a nearby shed. The incident highlights the potential dangers of leaving vehicles unattended, even with the parking brake engaged.

“I didn’t worry about the car, I was just relieved to see that my sons were okay and unharmed after the accident,” Furlan said. In a video captured by a security camera, Furlan can be seen throwing his arms open in shock before embracing his children.
“The hug I give them isn’t always to calm them down. Actually, the hug is them comforting me. I’m thankful they were there by my side. At the time, I wasn’t even worried about the car, I was just grateful,” he added.
