Iran Nuclear Deal: Trump & Netanyahu Discuss Negotiations – Sky News Arabia

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has affirmed his commitment to continuing negotiations with Iran regarding its nuclear program, even as discussions remain delicate and complex. The development comes after a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Wednesday, where Trump reportedly emphasized the importance of reaching a deal. This renewed focus on Iranian nuclear talks underscores the ongoing international efforts to prevent nuclear proliferation and maintain stability in the Middle East.

During the meeting, Trump stated on his social media platform, Truth Social, “It was a exceptionally decent meeting, tremendous relationship between our countries continues,” adding, “Nothing was agreed to except insistence on continuing the negotiations with Iran to witness if a deal can be made.”

Trump further explained that if a deal is possible, he would prioritize it with Netanyahu. “If that can happen, I will tell the Prime Minister that that will be the priority. If it doesn’t happen, we just have to see what the result will be,” he said. He also recalled a previous instance where Iran chose not to pursue an agreement, leading to U.S. Military action, and expressed hope for a more “rational and responsible” approach this time.

According to a statement released by Netanyahu’s office, the two leaders discussed the negotiations with Iran, as well as developments in Gaza and the broader region, and “agreed to continue close coordination and the close relationship between them.”

The visit from Netanyahu coincides with cautious optimism from both Tehran and Washington following indirect talks held in Oman last Friday, focused on resuming negotiations regarding Iran’s nuclear program.

In an interview with Larry Kudlow on Fox Business on Tuesday, Trump stated, “We’ll see what happens. I think they want to build a deal. I think they’d be foolish not to. We stripped them of their nuclear capabilities the last time, and we’ll see if we strip them of more this time.”

Trump emphasized the need for a “good deal,” specifying “no nuclear weapons, no missiles.”

Netanyahu’s office indicated before the meeting that discussions with the U.S. Should include restrictions on Iran’s ballistic missile program and its support for militant groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah.

Meanwhile, Iranian official Ali Aragchi indicated a willingness to reach an agreement on the country’s nuclear program, stating in a post on his X account: “Reaching an agreement on our nuclear program is possible, provided it is fair and balanced.”

The potential for a renewed nuclear agreement between the U.S. And Iran remains a significant point of contention in the region, with implications for global security and energy markets.
