Milano Cortina, Italy – Norway’s ski jumping team faced a disappointing day at the Olympic normal hill competition on Thursday, February 12, 2026, with Johann André Forfang finishing ninth as the top Norwegian performer.
Despite delivering the best result among his teammates, Forfang was left out of the mixed team competition scheduled for Tuesday evening at 6:45 PM local time. Marius Lindvik placed 12th, while Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal fell to 10th in the final round, finishing just 1.5 points behind Forfang.
“The guys have beaten me in every jump except for the competition itself. I gave them an extra consideration there, but we’ll see,” Forfang said to the press before the team announcement, as reported by NRK.
The results have been met with some frustration, with commentators noting a tight competition among the Norwegian jumpers. According to MSN, only 5.2 points separated the top nine jumpers heading into the final round.
Germany’s Philipp Raimund took home the gold in the event, adding to the sense of disappointment for the Norwegian team. Radio H reported the mood as “disappointing” following the results.
Representing Norway in the mixed team event will be Marius Lindvik and Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal for the men, and Anna Odine Strøm and Eirin Maria Kvandal for the women. Some experts questioned the decision to exclude Forfang from the mixed team event, as noted by Nordlys.
The mixed team competition is set to begin Tuesday evening, and Norway will be looking to rebound from a challenging day on the hill.
