Google is rolling out a significant update to Google Meet, enhancing how users share and view content during video conferences. The video conferencing application will now allow participants to move shared content into a separate, resizable window.
Google is poised to offer users more flexibility in how they display shared content during video calls within Google Meet. The application will soon enable participants to display content shared by another user in a separate window.
Shared Content in Google Meet Now Viewable in Full Screen
Previously, when a participant shared a document during a Google Meet video call, it would automatically appear within the call window, without the option to view it full screen. Google is now introducing the ability for a call participant to detach the shared content and display it in a new window.
This new feature allows users to display any presentation, document, or spreadsheet in a secondary, resizable window, independent of the main call window. Importantly, the update enables the shared documents to be viewed in full-screen mode.
Google notes that this functionality will work with any type of content shared on screen. The option, which will be enabled by default, will be accessible via a dedicated button displayed directly on the shared content.
The rollout of this update will occur progressively over several weeks.
