Intel has expanded support for its XeSS 3 multi-frame generation technology to its full lineup of Arc GPUs, following an initial rollout for Panther Lake processors in early October 2025. The update, released on February 13, 2026, brings the AI-powered performance enhancement to a wider range of hardware.
The initial release of XeSS 3 at the conclude of January was limited to integrated GPUs found in Panther Lake processors, a restriction that Intel had previously indicated would be temporary. This broader availability underscores the company’s commitment to making its upscaling technology accessible to more users.
XeSS, or eXpert Super Sampling, combines several technologies to improve graphics performance. At its core is XeSS-SR, the upscaling component that renders images at a lower resolution and then intelligently reconstructs them to a higher resolution. XeSS-LL aims to reduce latency, while XeSS-FG, introduced with XeSS 2, generated entirely new frames using AI. XeSS 3 replaces XeSS-FG with XeSS-MFG, or Multi-Frame Generation, which inserts more AI-generated frames between rendered frames – up to three in “4x” mode – to boost framerates. The update does not include improvements to XeSS-SR or XeSS-LL.
The technology is now available for users with:
• Intel Arc Alchemist graphics cards
• Intel Arc Battlemage graphics cards
• Arc integrated GPUs in Panther Lake processors
• Arc integrated GPUs in Lunar Lake processors
• Arc integrated GPUs in Arrow Lake H processors
• Arc integrated GPUs in Meteor Lake processors
