1. Apple Podcasts with support for videos

Apple Podcasts now supports the playback of video episodes. The new feature is built on Apple’s HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) protocol, allowing for automatic adaptation to varying network conditions, offline playback downloads, and dynamic ad insertion.

2. Testing with encryption for RCS messages

Apple has begun testing native support for end-to-end encryption in RCS messages. The feature is currently in an experimental phase and is being rolled out gradually, and is expected to become available in a future update.

3. AI-powered playlist creation in Apple Music

Apple Intelligence has gained a new feature focused on Apple Music. Dubbed “Playlist playground,” the function allows users to create playlists from text descriptions with the help of integrated artificial intelligence.

The feature is still in testing and can be accessed via the playlist creation icon in the upper right corner of the “Library” tab in Apple Music.

4. Theft protection activated by default

“Stolen Device Protection,” launched in iOS 17.3 in 2023, now comes activated by default in iOS 26.4 Beta 1. The mechanism requires biometric authentication to access sensitive device functions.

Protected resources include:

  • Use or viewing of passwords and access keys saved in Apple Passwords;
  • Requesting a new Apple Card;
  • Viewing a virtual Apple Card;
  • Disabling “Lost Mode”;
  • Deleting all content and settings from the device;
  • Using saved payment methods in Safari;
  • Using the iPhone to set up a new device.

Previously, the function had to be activated manually in settings. Now, it is enabled by default.

5. Usage statistics on the Wi-Fi router

The system now includes a new section containing data usage statistics for devices connected to Wi-Fi when the iPhone is configured as a personal hotspot. The area shows which devices are connected and how much mobile data has been consumed so far.

6. Video support in CarPlay

References to support for video playback in CarPlay were found within the code of iOS 26.4 Beta 1. The references indicate that drivers may be able to log in to their Apple TV account to consume content even as parked. This development builds on Apple’s announcement at WWDC 2025 regarding AirPlay video support in vehicles.

7. New native wallpaper gallery

The native wallpaper gallery has been redesigned. The new design organizes the same wallpapers already known by categories, which can be added or removed by the user.

Another change is that wallpapers will no longer be stored by default on the device. The system will download on demand, downloading only those selected by the user.

8. Radar of nearby shows in Apple Music

Apple Music will gain a section called “Concerts Near You,” which will display upcoming performances based on the user’s artists of interest.

The app similarly receives a new full-screen visual for album and playlist playback, as well as the ability to add a song to multiple playlists at the same time.

9. New emojis

References to new emojis were found in the code of iOS 26.4 Beta 1. The presence indicates that the new stickers should be released in a future update.
