A 21-year-old man has been arrested and charged after video footage surfaced appearing to show him assaulting a 17-year-old boy and threatening him with a dog. The incident, which occurred in the rural Harmantepe Mahallesi area of Savur, Turkey, has drawn attention after the boy’s mother shared the video online, raising concerns about her son’s safety.
According to reports, the man accused the teenager of stealing pigeons. He allegedly took the boy to a barn, removed his clothing, and physically assaulted him while demanding to know the location of the birds. The man then reportedly threatened to unleash a dog on the teen.
The boy initially withdrew his complaint, leading to the man’s initial release. However, after the mother posted the video on social media with the message, “The withdrawal of the complaint does not legitimize torture. I aim for the authorities to take immediate action by accepting the video as evidence,” authorities reopened the investigation.
The man, identified as Y.K., was subsequently taken back into custody. He was then formally charged and, following a court appearance, was ordered held in jail pending trial. The case highlights the challenges of protecting vulnerable individuals and ensuring accountability in alleged abuse cases.
The mother had previously expressed concerns that she was unable to see her son, as his father was preventing visits. She feared for his well-being and shared the video in an attempt to bring attention to the situation.
