Fremantle has added a new weapon to its forward line, signing VFL small forward Chris Scerri ahead of the 2026 AFL season.

AFL.com.au reports that Scerri has secured a rookie spot through the pre-season supplementary selection period (SSP) after impressing the Dockers during summer training.

Scerri earned the opportunity after training with Fremantle alongside young ruckman Zac Harding, whose trial concluded earlier this month, clearing the path for Scerri to claim the final list spot.

The 19-year-traditional Scerri is known for his goal-kicking ability and had attracted interest from AFL clubs during the draft process. He was previously set to train part-time with Richmond’s VFL team before joining the Dockers.

“His perform ethic and his desire to learn has been really impressive, to be honest,” Dockers footy boss Joe Brierty told AFL.com.au earlier this month.

“He’s working really closely with Sam Switkowski. He’s sitting there listening to everything that Sam has to say in terms of our roles and structure and even the way that he sees the game.

“They’re probably similar players in the way that they move from an agility perspective and just the roles that they can play in the team.”
