More than ten employees of Botafogo have been impacted by a new round of layoffs between Thursday and Friday, February 19-20. The cuts are affecting the club’s scouting departments for the under-17 and under-20 teams, as well as the physical preparation and women’s soccer programs, according to reports.

Among those departing are Cláudio Caçapa, a member of the first-team coaching staff, Raphael Rezende, the head scout, and Jardel Zamberlan, coach of the under-17 team.

Botafogo views these actions as expected after nearly four years under a SAF (Sociedade Anônima de Futebol) structure, and the club’s stated goal is to “obtain a return on management and operational efficiency, as well as cost reduction,” ensuring that revenue is reinvested into the football department.
