Gameloft has released a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of its free-to-play arcade racer, Asphalt Legends, on February 16, 2026. The updated version offers enhanced visuals and performance for Nintendo’s new hybrid console, signaling a growing trend of developers optimizing titles for the platform’s capabilities.
According to Nintendo’s website, the Switch 2 Edition of Asphalt Legends features a resolution upgrade to 1440p in TV mode and 1080p in handheld mode. Players can as well expect a stable 60 frames per second in both modes, alongside enhanced visual effects. This performance boost aims to deliver a smoother and more immersive racing experience.
“Compete in intense arcade races, now upgraded with smoother frame rates, higher resolution and enhanced visuals for the Nintendo Switch™ 2 system,” the company stated. The game allows up to eight players online and supports local split-screen play for up to four players on a single system.
Asphalt Legends offers players a selection of over 300 hypercars, including models from Ferrari and Porsche, to race on iconic tracks around the world. Players can also customize their vehicles with unique paint jobs, rims, and parts. The game includes in-app purchases and random items.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version has a file size of 3.9 GB, slightly larger than the 3.3 GB size of the original Nintendo Switch version. Supported play modes include TV mode, tabletop mode, and handheld mode. The game supports Japanese, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Korean, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Brazilian Portuguese, Traditional Chinese, American English, and Thai languages.
This release follows Gameloft’s announcement that This proves also working on a Switch 2 Edition of Disney Dreamlight Valley, further demonstrating the company’s commitment to supporting Nintendo’s latest hardware. Gematsu reports the game is now available via the Nintendo eShop.
The availability of free-to-play titles like Asphalt Legends on the Switch 2 is expected to broaden the console’s appeal and attract a wider audience. Nintendo Life notes that the Switch 2 Edition is a free update for existing players.
