A truck carrying approximately 10,700 gallons of fuel overturned on Saturday morning in the jurisdiction of Sabanalarga, causing a major traffic disruption.
According to Concesión Autopistas del Caribe, the incident occurred at 8:19 a.m. Local time. The event is prompting concerns about potential supply chain impacts in the region, though the extent remains unclear.
The accident has resulted in the complete closure of the Ruta Nacional 9006, too known as La Cordialidad.

“As a preventive measure and to guarantee the safety of users and the environment, it was necessary to completely close the simple roadway although the attention tasks and the safe transfer of the fuel are carried out by the specialized company contracted by the carrier,” the concessionaire stated.
Authorities initially estimated the road closure would last until 12:30 p.m., but have since extended the estimate to late Saturday evening, depending on the progress of ongoing technical work.
Motorists are advised to take the Cartagena – Barranquilla route (RN90A), known as the Vía al Mar, as an alternate route.

Concesión Autopistas del Caribe indicated that units of the Concession, the Fire Department, the National Police, and the carrier’s emergency response company are present at the scene, coordinating actions to control the situation, mitigate risks, and restore mobility as quickly as possible.
