Oliver Oswald: From Child Star to Homeowner – Inside His Dream House

Oliver Oswald, a 24-year-traditional radio host and presenter, began his entertainment career as a child actor. He first gained public recognition at age 11 in the television series *Zita na krku* and later appeared in the successful project *Oteckovia*. Today, he performs on stage, provides voice-overs, appears in commercials, and entertains audiences on social media and on the radio. Oswald has demonstrated a savvy approach to his earnings, investing his income rather than spending it frivolously. He owns three apartments, one of which he currently occupies, even as the others are rental properties. Last year, he achieved a long-held goal: purchasing a house near Bratislava.

Investing in Real Estate

Oswald previously stated that owning a house near Bratislava with a dog was a long-term ambition. “To come home in the evening and water the tomatoes – like my grandparents used to,” he said, adding that he financed the purchase through rental income from two apartments he bought two years ago in a new development in Petržalka. He meticulously furnished the rental properties as if he were living in them himself. “I struggled with curtain rods, curtains, paint colors, and choosing artwork to ensure everything matched as closely as possible, and it wasn’t uncomplicated. I literally spent days going from store to store looking for the right items. I hadn’t had similar experience before, but I learned a lot,” he told mojdom.sk.

The actor prefers simple, practical, and elegant décor that still feels inviting. “I don’t like purely luxurious styles, because they often lack that comfortable feeling of home. In the apartments I offer for rent, I admire the furniture, especially the kitchen, which is finished with lamella cladding on the wall and shelving above the corner section of the counter,” he said.

A Dream Realized

While many of his peers are still considering their first mortgage, Oswald now holds the keys to his own family home. The decision came after careful consideration – weighing another investment property against a place that would be a true home. The desire for stability and a secure base prevailed. “I really liked the quiet location… it’s uniform here, like in those American movies, it doesn’t look like a rabbit warren,” he said, describing his initial impressions. The purchase underscores a growing trend among young professionals prioritizing long-term asset ownership.

“I’m excited about the decorating phase, although it will be a lot of function,” Oswald recently admitted. “I’ve always wanted a family home. And since I’ve been working with apartments for a long time, renting them out, I was at a point where I was considering whether to buy another apartment to rent or to buy a house where I would build my future and live. So the latter won out. Because I realized that this work might not be here tomorrow. I want to create a solid foundation, a place to live, a real home… And I’m not spending the money on frivolous things – expensive clothes, cars, material possessions,” the actor explained, noting he learned to save and invest wisely. “I consider real estate never loses value, and if something happens, I can sell it. I think it’s a sensible step,” Oswald added.

“I’ve been saving money since I was a child. After all, I was on television at age 8, I saved, saved, saved, and didn’t spend it on nonsense. Even when I wore expensive clothes, I would trade them. I would buy them, wear them, and sell them… I tried to turn the money around,” Oswald added.

Visualization to Reality

While he furnished the apartments largely on his own, Oswald entrusted the interior design of the house to professionals. The interior design studio sent him initial proposals, which he immediately shared. “These are like wizards from Hogwarts,” he wrote.

The designs showcase the central part of the house – the living room, dining area, and partially the kitchen – connected in an L-shape. The two-story design is also apparent, with a staircase visible in the photographs. The interior appears bright, modern, and features clean lines in beige and white tones that would easily fit in a luxury design magazine.

According to sources, Oswald purchased the property in Hviezdoslavov, a project offering new family homes that provide spacious and comfortable living outside the bustle of the city, yet approximately 17 minutes from the center of Bratislava. The price of a four-room house is around €450,000. The property features photovoltaic panels, a heat pump, ceiling cooling, underfloor heating, and pre-wiring for an electric car charger.

Now Living In The Home

Oswald shared the first images of the house just before Christmas. “The people behind the project in Hviezdoslavov aren’t the type to hand over the keys and disappear. They helped me even after the purchase – with completion, questions, and solutions after moving in. And for peace of mind: my house has a 7-year warranty,” the actor said, adding a video showing him receiving the house keys. The footage reveals both the exterior and modern interior, including a Christmas tree.

More recently, he shared additional images, showcasing specific design elements. He highlighted the living room and dining area – closely adhering to the visualization. A pale, L-shaped sectional sofa is the focal point of the living room, defining the comfort, style, and overall atmosphere of the room. It is coordinated with the kitchen table, bench, and stools, all in soft, light tones. A brown kitchen unit next to the dining area provides a pleasant contrast and enlivens the space. Oswald also added beige curtains and drapes, which enhance the overall harmonious impression of his new home.
