Compact travel format

The Smartline 3-in-1 charger is ideal if you have an iPhone, AirPods, and Apple Watch, but there are reasons to choose it even if you don’t.

Swedish company Smartline produces mobile chargers and headsets, and this review focuses on a wireless charger. The “3-in-1” designation indicates it’s designed to charge a mobile phone, headphones, and a smartwatch simultaneously. While Apple products immediately arrive to mind, the charger isn’t limited to them. Many wireless-charging headsets with cases, and even Samsung Galaxy Watches, are compatible. The phone charging pad also supports the Qi2 standard, meaning devices like Google’s Pixel 10 phones and Samsung Galaxy S phones with magnetic cases can attach and charge. It can also function as a standard wireless charging pad for any compatible device.

The Smartline 3-in-1 Charger is foldable, becoming a compact charging pad when collapsed, making it easy to travel with, though it’s a bit thick and relatively heavy. You can place your phone on it even without magnetic attachment. The charging power is 25 watts, significantly faster than older wireless charging pads predating the Qi2 standard. I also found the pad to be less finicky about phone placement than my older wireless charger. Phones with magnetic attachments naturally align correctly.

A one-meter cable comes with the charger, but you’ll also need a wall charger with sufficient power. Smartline offers a separate 45-watt wall charger with two USB-C ports for 349 SEK. It’s compact and convenient, but must be purchased separately.

Unfolding the Smartline 3-in-1 Charger creates a tilted pad for the phone, requiring magnetic attachment for charging, and two platforms behind it. The lower platform is for charging headphones, and the upper one holds a smartwatch. The headphone platform delivers 5 watts, and the watch platform 2.5 watts. The charger gets slightly warm even when no devices are charging, indicating it draws some power in standby.

The charger has an LED as its only indicator. It normally illuminates but turns off when a phone is placed on the charging pad, which is unusual. It’s not necessarily a poor thing; if I accidentally place my phone slightly off-center (a problem only with phones without magnetic attachment) I’ll notice because the light remains on.

My only complaint about the Smartline 3-in-1 Charger is that the LED is a bit too bright. The light can be distracting. While you can unplug the charger, plugging and unplugging it every time you want to charge wirelessly feels counterintuitive. I’d probably just tape over the light to dim it.

It’s a minor issue, and if you want a wireless charger for multiple devices that’s also portable, the Smartline 3-in-1 Charger is an excellent choice. Even if you only want to charge your phone and desire a faster charging speed than basic wireless chargers offer, it’s a good option.
