Moroccan naval forces intercepted 189 people attempting to migrate to the Canary Islands. The group was traveling aboard a single boat when it was stopped by units of the Royal Navy.

The incident highlights the ongoing challenges of irregular migration routes from North Africa to Europe. Those on board, who authorities say were primarily from sub-Saharan African countries, received initial medical attention while at sea.

Following the interception, the migrants were brought to the port of Dakhla and turned over to the Royal Gendarmerie for standard administrative procedures. Officials confirmed that some individuals had received medical care onboard prior to arrival at the port.
