The theme for the 2026 International Women’s Day, “Give to Gain,” highlights the far-reaching effects of women’s contributions. In the context of diabetes care, when women are supported and empowered, their expertise and leadership strengthen prevention efforts and expand equitable access to quality care, particularly in underserved communities.
Women play a critical role in global health and diabetes care, serving as caregivers, healthcare workers, researchers, advocates, and community leaders. Every day, women dedicate their time, knowledge, perform, and life experience to supporting families, communities, and healthcare systems. These contributions, often informal and unpaid, have a lasting impact on health outcomes across generations. Recognizing and valuing these contributions is essential for improving public health worldwide.
The International Diabetes Federation is hosting an online event on March 6, 2026, from 12:30 to 2:00 PM Central European Time (CET), to explore what “Give to Gain” means for diabetes advocates around the world. Participants will analyze how individual acts of advocacy, education, and leadership can lead to collective gains, reflecting on their experiences and highlighting the challenges they face and the impact of their contributions at the community, national, and global levels.
