Four earthquakes struck Romania on Thursday, with the strongest registering a magnitude of 4.5 in Vrancea County at 7:21 PM local time.
UPDATE: The most recent tremor occurred at 8:52:46 PM (Romania local time) in Dobrogea, Tulcea, with a magnitude of 3.3 at a depth of 3.0 km, according to the National Institute for Earth Physics (INFP).
The earthquake was felt near the following cities: 48km S of Tulcea, 62km N of Constanța, 69km S of Izmayil, 80km SE of Brăila, and 93km SE of Galați.
Initial report: A magnitude 4.5 earthquake occurred Thursday evening in Vrancea County.
“On February 26, 2026, at 7:21:51 PM (Romania local time), a medium-sized earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5 occurred in the Vrancea seismic zone, Vrancea, at a depth of 107.9km,” INFP reported.
The earthquake was felt near the following cities: 39 km W of Focșani, 72 km E of Sfântu-Gheorghe, 76 km N of Buzău, 83 km S of Bacău, 86 km SW of Bârlad, and 88 km E of Brașov.
Another earthquake occurred Thursday at 5:37:25 AM in the seismic zone of Vrancea. The tremor registered a magnitude of 3.3 at a depth of 119.9km.
The earthquake was felt near the following cities: 31km W of Focșani, 61km N of Buzău, 80km E of Sfântu-Gheorghe, 90km SW of Bârlad, 92km E of Brașov, and 96km S of Bacău.
Another seismic event was recorded Thursday at 12:31:54 AM, in the seismic zone of Vrancea, Buzău, with a magnitude of 2.7, at a depth of 124.6km.
The earthquake was felt near the following cities: 49km NW of Buzău, 64km SE of Sfântu-Gheorghe, 65km E of Brașov, 65km W of Focșani, 66km NE of Ploiești, and 96km NE of Târgoviște.
