Jade Kops Shares Heartbreaking Update on Cancer Battle: ‘This is the Beginning of the End’
Jade Kops, 19, has shared devastating news regarding her ongoing battle with cancer. The Dutch influencer revealed that a recent MRI scan showed the tumor has spread aggressively, marking a critical turning point in her health journey.
“Yesterday I heard words that are too heavy to hold and too sharp to let travel,” Kops wrote on Instagram, as reported by AD. “What I saw on the screen felt like a nightmare.”
According to reports from Omroep West and LINDA.nl, the tumor is now located almost everywhere on the left side of her face – in her ear, neck, near her nose and eye, against her brain, and towards her trachea. Kops was first diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare form of cancer, in her throat four years ago.
“It’s really terribly sad and incomprehensible,” she shared with her followers. She had previously been told in 2024 that a cure was no longer possible, and had celebrated her 19th birthday earlier this month, believing it might be her last, as Libelle noted.
Doctors have now informed Kops that she has entered “the final phase” of her life, a step beyond the palliative care she had been receiving. “There is no space around the tumor anymore,” she explained.
Despite the grim prognosis, Kops maintains a hopeful outlook. “How much time I have left is unpredictable. Every day is a gift, and I hope to receive many more of these gifts to make beautiful memories with those I love,” she wrote. She admitted to feeling “powerless, defeated, sad and scared,” particularly of the pain and the unknown that lies ahead, according to Rodi.nl.
