Peruvians are requesting lower salaries for new jobs compared to last month, though expectations remain up year-over-year, according to recent data. The average desired salary in January decreased by 3.61% from December, but increased by 5.27% compared to the same period last year.
Diego Tala, commercial director of Bumeran.com.pe, noted that the more predictable economic climate may be influencing professionals to moderate their salary expectations. “The current economic context has created a more predictable scenario, which may have led professionals to moderate their salary expectations,” Tala said in a statement.
The average salary sought by Peruvians for manager or supervisor positions is approximately $5,364 (Peruvian Soles), a decrease from a peak of over $5,600 between September and November of last year. Database administration roles are currently commanding the highest salaries in this category, with an average request of $10,500.
