Iran launched a barrage of four ballistic missiles targeting the U.S. Aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, according to reports from Iranian state media. The attack marks a significant escalation in regional tensions following recent exchanges between Iran and its adversaries.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reported on Sunday, March 1, that the missile strikes were part of “Operation True Promise 4.”

“The USS Abraham Lincoln was targeted by four ballistic missiles as part of Operation True Promise 4,” Tasnim News Agency reported.
Tasnim further stated that the Iranian offensive has entered a modern phase, with both land and sea areas now considered battlegrounds.
Iran vowed that these areas would become “the graveyard of the terrorist aggressors.”
The attacks follow strikes by the U.S. And Israel against Iran on Saturday, February 28, which reportedly resulted in the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader, as well as numerous high-ranking Iranian officials and hundreds of schoolchildren.
In response to the strikes, Iran has launched retaliatory attacks against various locations in Israel and at U.S. Bases across the Middle East. Reports indicate explosions occurred in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Iraq.
Currently, two U.S. Aircraft carriers are stationed in the Middle Eastern waters: the USS Abraham Lincoln and the USS Gerald R. Ford. President Donald Trump deployed the vessels to the region in an effort to pressure Iran into resuming nuclear negotiations.
Negotiations between Iran and the U.S. Were underway before the recent escalation of conflict. Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, has now affirmed that negotiations will not continue following Khamenei’s death.
