The next installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, currently known as Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe, is reportedly on track for a late 2027 release, and is shaping up to be a significant departure for the long-running series. According to insider Tom Henderson, development is progressing well, with details emerging about a revamped combat system and potential story elements.
Henderson explained in a recent episode of the Insider Gaming podcast (via GamingBolt) that Ubisoft is aiming for a complete overhaul of the traditional Assassin’s Creed combat mechanics. The studio has reportedly brought in a martial arts specialist to assist with motion capture, promising a more acrobatic and visually dynamic fighting experience. This shift reflects a broader trend in game development towards more realistic and fluid movement systems.

The game’s protagonist, Aisha, is similarly expected to receive guidance from a familiar face within the Assassin’s Creed universe. Henderson’s sources indicate that Ezio Auditore da Firenze, a beloved character from earlier titles, will appear to mentor Aisha in the art of assassination around the midpoint of the game. Aisha will also possess abilities reminiscent of witchcraft, though these powers may not be central to her combat style.
Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe is currently slated for a holiday 2027 release, meaning fans will likely need to wait over a year for the next major Assassin’s Creed title. This decision comes as Ubisoft prepares to launch a number of other high-profile projects in 2026, including remakes of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, as well as new installments in the Far Cry, Ghost Recon, and Rayman franchises.
