Auto Bassadone Pārdod Latvijas Biznesu Auto Blitz Grupai

Auto Bassadone, a vehicle sales and service company known to Latvian customers for its extensive showroom and wide selection, will be sold to Auto Blitz, a company within the Musa Motors Group. The deal reflects a strategic shift for Auto Bassadone, which will now focus its operations on the Estonian market.

The transaction will take effect on April 1, pending approval from the Competition Council. Following approval, Musa Motors Group and Auto Blitz will provide further commentary on the deal and future plans, currently limiting their statements to the assurance that the transaction will not impact the day-to-day operations of the Mežciems showroom and that the transition between companies will be as smooth as possible for customers.

The Mežciems showroom, previously owned by Auto Bassadone, was one of the largest in the Baltic region, offering a choice of over 100 different car models from 10 brands – Alfa Romeo, Citroen, Fiat, Hyundai, Isuzu, Jeep, Opel, Peugeot, Suzuki and KGM (formerly Ssang Young). The showroom employed more than 60 people.

Auto Bassadone is owned by Bassadone Automotive Nordic, which has been operating in Finland and the Baltics since 1997 and is currently an importer for 15 automotive brands, including those within the Stellantis group – Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Citroen, Fiat, Fiat Professional, Jeep, Opel, Peugeot and DC – as well as Hyundai, Isuzu, Lotus, KGM (formerly Ssang Young), Nissan, and Suzuki. In Finland, Bassadone Automotive Nordic also imports brands within the Renault group, Renault, and Dacia.

“The Latvian auto market grew by 35% in 2025, creating favorable conditions for the completion of this transaction,” said Veiko Karu, Managing Director of Auto Bassadone. “The deal was initiated by Latvian entrepreneurs, evolving from the existing collaboration between Bassadone Automotive Nordic and Auto Blitz in the distribution of Opel in Latvia. It was carefully evaluated before a final decision was made. We believe this is a well-considered decision that allows Auto Bassadone to consolidate resources in Estonia.”

According to Karu, the transaction also reflects a broader strategic shift in Latvia. “Our goal in Latvia was to establish a stable foundation for the brands we represent and to develop a strong retail partner network. We have achieved the planned market share and created a sustainable platform for future growth. Now is the right time to accept the offer from our experienced and trusted partner, Auto Blitz, which is well-positioned for the company’s further development,” Karu explained.

Karu added that the decision to sell the showroom is part of the company’s strategy to adapt to changing market conditions. “Our previous strategy of operating in multiple markets was formed in a different economic context – at a time when there was no vehicle tax in Estonia and the subsequent rapid market decline. Today, our operating environment in Estonia has changed significantly. The specific challenges of the Estonian market require greater focus and efficiency, so we have decided to adjust our strategy and concentrate our resources in Estonia,” Karu confirmed.

Karu indicated that a recovery in the Estonian auto market is not expected before 2027. In these circumstances, the entire industry needs to optimize its operations, costs and investments. “Concentrating on one strong multi-brand showroom in Estonia will allow us to focus resources and increase market share. By developing one strong center, we can provide customers with a high-quality sales and after-sales experience, as well as offer employees a modern and motivating work environment,” Karu added.
