The National Highway Company (NDS) has awarded a contract to Valbek SK for a feasibility study concerning the construction of a roughly 26-mile (42-kilometer) extension of the R1 expressway, running from Most pri Bratislave to Vlčkovce. Most pri Bratislave, located in the Senec district, is near Bratislava’s D4 bypass, while Vlčkovce, in the Trnava district, is close to the R1’s connection with the D1.
Valbek SK will deliver the study within 420 days – or 14 months – of the contract’s effective date, for a price of €538,600 excluding value-added tax (VAT). According to a notice published in the Public Procurement Authority’s bulletin, three bidders submitted proposals, with the lowest price being the deciding factor.
The tender was announced last July and the successful bidder was selected in November following an evaluation of the offers. Valbek SK secured the contract with the lowest proposed price, with its four subcontractors responsible for 12% of the project’s scope. Dopravoprojekt submitted a bid of nearly €592,000, and HBH Projekt offered over €654,000, both excluding VAT. The initially estimated value of the study when the tender was announced was €727,000 excluding VAT.
The NDS stated that the study, based on updated traffic data and an analysis of costs and benefits, will identify current and projected issues related to road network capacity, traffic safety, and environmental impact, taking into account new developments in the affected area.
the study will explore and assess various route options, recommending the most technically, economically, transportationally, and environmentally sound alternative, including its optimal division into sections, width arrangement, and design speed (category), with consideration for coordination and alignment with the connection of the D4 highway and the R1 expressway.
