Algeria international Farès Chaïbi delivered a clear message to his coach Albert Riera, outlining his ambitions with Eintracht Frankfurt and his unwillingness to settle for a substitute role. On Sunday, against SC Freiburg, the attacking midfielder responded emphatically: on the pitch.

Entering the match as a 63rd-minute substitute, Chaïbi needed just seconds to change the complexion of the game. He unleashed a precise left-footed strike to open the scoring, relieving pressure on his team. Later, he set up Jean-Mattéo Bahoya for the second goal, sealing a valuable 2-0 victory. German media lauded his impact, describing it as a “strong” appearance and a “major” contribution capable of turning the tide in an instant.

In statements to the German newspaper Bild, Chaïbi said: “We received great support from the coach, his instructions give us a lot. We managed to end the series of bad results and we want to continue on this path.”

Reflecting on his personal situation following the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the departure of former manager Dino Toppmöller, he admitted: “Yes, I went through some difficult weeks within the team, which is what makes this goal against Freiburg even more special.”

But the most forceful message was unambiguous: “My ambition is limitless, everyone knows that. I do not accept the role of a substitute. I fight every day to earn my place in the starting eleven, and I don’t know what the future holds.”

A clear statement, mirroring a determined performance full of ambition and aimed at the highest levels, with the 2026 FIFA World Cup with the Algerian national team firmly in his sights.
