The world of Venezuelan television and culture is mourning the loss of producer Alba Fernández de Revenga, who passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the age of 88. Revenga is remembered as a pillar of the country’s audiovisual production.
A highly influential figure in Venezuelan television, Revenga left a lasting impact on generations of media professionals.
Throughout her career at Venevisión, she spearheaded programs that defined different eras of television in Venezuela. These included the beloved children’s demonstrate Sopotocientos, as well as successful formats like La estrella de la fortuna, Match 4, and Cuéntame Venezuela. Her work helped shape the “Golden Age” of Venezuelan television, known for its diverse range of educational, cultural, and entertainment programming.
A Champion of Cultural Projects
Beyond television, Revenga was deeply committed to education and culture. She was a driving force behind the Museo de los Niños de Caracas (Caracas Children’s Museum) and participated in the creation of the Casa Uslar Pietri, an institution dedicated to promoting the work and legacy of writer Arturo Uslar Pietri.
The passing of Revenga is a significant loss for the Venezuelan cultural landscape, recognizing her contributions to both entertainment and education. Deputy Antonio Ecarri, president of the Fundación Casa Uslar Pietri, remembered her on social media X as one of Venezuela’s greatest cultural figures.
“Venezuela loses one of its greatest talents: Alba Fernández Ron de Revenga, founder of Casa Uslar Pietri, of the Children’s Museum and my teacher. A pride that I will always carry in my heart,” he wrote.
Ecarri further emphasized that “her history, her voice, her talent, her brilliance and dedication” left an indelible mark.
Revenga’s death marks the end of a significant chapter in the history of Venezuelan television production, leaving behind a legacy associated with creativity, talent development, and the promotion of cultural content.
