Samsung is continuing to push the boundaries of smartphone camera technology and its latest innovation is the 200-megapixel ISOCELL HP0 sensor. Even as Samsung produces some of the most popular phones on the market, this new sensor will not debut in a Galaxy device – instead, it will appear in a smartphone from another manufacturer.
The first smartphone to utilize the new sensor is expected to be the Vivo X300 Ultra, a device keenly anticipated by mobile photography enthusiasts. The phone could launch as early as this month and become available internationally before the conclude of March.
Advanced Stabilization and Extended Optical Zoom
The telephoto camera on this model will feature the Samsung ISOCELL HP0 sensor, paired with ZEISS optics and an advanced optical image stabilization (OIS) system. The camera module will be complemented by the Sony LYT-901 main sensor, currently one of the highest-performing components available for smartphone cameras.
A key feature of the telephoto camera is its optical stabilization, capable of shifting up to 3 degrees. This surpasses typical OIS systems, which generally offer compensation between 0.7 and 1 degree.
In practice, this system could function similarly to a mini gimbal integrated into the camera module, reducing vibrations and enabling the capture of clearer images even in low-light conditions or with longer exposure times. This level of stabilization represents a significant step forward in mobile image quality.
Vivo states that the 200MP sensor has been optimized for multiple aspects of mobile photography, including color reproduction, HDR performance, autofocus, and power efficiency.
Beyond the integrated camera system, the company is likewise preparing a series of accessories dedicated to photography enthusiasts. At Mobile World Congress 2026, Vivo showcased a set of equipment including a “camera cage” for mounting accessories and an optical adapter called the ZEISS Telephoto Extender Gen 2 Ultra.
This adapter could extend the camera’s zoom capabilities to an equivalent focal length of approximately 400mm, enabling an optical zoom of around 17.2x without significant loss of quality.
