USF Baseball Heads to Jacksonville: Series Preview & Notes

TAMPA, Fla. (March 8, 2026) – The University of South Florida Bulls baseball team is hitting the road again, heading to Jacksonville to face the Dolphins. South Florida has started the season strong with a 13-3 record, though they are 2-2 in road games.
 
Setting The Stage:
The Bulls are coming off a dominant three-game sweep of Southern University, which included a doubleheader victory. Jacksonville, currently 9-7, is looking to rebound after being swept 3-0 by the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
 
Series History:
The all-time series between Jacksonville and South Florida favors the Dolphins, 10-9. But, the Bulls took the last matchup, securing a thrilling 16-12 road win fueled by a six-run rally in the top of the ninth inning. South Florida has struggled in Jacksonville, posting a 3-7 record when playing on the Dolphins’ home field.
 
Note-A-Bull:

  • Nathan Earley is currently riding a 12-game streak of reaching base, while Jevin Relaford has extended his streak to 11 games.
  • Pruitt currently leads the team in hits, runs, RBIs, and walks.
  • Jevin Relaford is the team’s stolen base leader with 11.
  • Through the first portion of the season, South Florida has outscored its opponents by a significant margin, 133-55.

About USF Baseball
Established in 1966, the University of South Florida baseball program is entering its 61st season in 2026. Head coach Mitch Hannahs is set to begin his second year leading the Bulls after a successful debut season that saw the team achieve 32 wins – the program’s highest win total since 2018. USF as well recorded 16 victories in American Athletic Conference play, marking their best conference performance since joining the league.
 
Hannahs, recognized as the 2023 ABCA NCAA Division I Midwest Region Coach of the Year, was appointed as USF’s eighth head coach on June 8, 2024, following an impressive 11-year tenure at Indiana State, where he amassed 355 wins, six conference titles, and five NCAA Regional appearances.
 
The Bulls have made 14 NCAA Tournament appearances, highlighted by a historic Super Regional berth in 2021. The program boasts five conference tournament titles (three Sun Belt, one Metro, one American) and six regular season championships (three Sun Belt, two Metro, one C-USA).
 
USF continues to cultivate top talent, with 134 players drafted into Major League Baseball all-time, including three selections in 2025. Notable alumni include two-time MLB All-Star and 2018 first-round draft pick Shane McClanahan. Bulls have earned All-America honors 12 times and Freshman All-America recognition 19 times.
