He similarly gained popularity as a bard, composing over 200 ballads.
While living in the U.S., Wasilewicz studied directing at Columbia University to support his family, he worked at a night bar.
Wasilewicz had a daughter, Nicola, known as Nisia, who for a long time resided in Tulum, Mexico, where she worked organizing weddings.
By the complete of his life, he was reportedly unrecognizable from his earlier years.
Andrzej Wasilewicz lived in the Hamptons on Long Island. He passed away in a local hospital at the age of 65 and was buried at a cemetery in New York. His final film role was in 1997’s “Happy New York,” where he played a customer with shears.
