Google is refining its approach to foldable phone design with the upcoming Pixel 11 Pro Fold, according to newly leaked renders. The device is expected to launch in August 2026, positioning it as a direct competitor to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7.

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is expected to feature a slimmer design and a redesigned camera bump.

The most notable change in the design appears to be a significantly thinner profile, measuring 10.1mm when folded and just 4.8mm when unfolded. This addresses a common criticism of foldable phones – their bulkiness – and aims to make the device more pocketable. The renders, obtained by OnLeaks and shared with Android Central, also reveal a redesigned camera bump with pill-shaped cutouts that integrate the LED flash and microphone directly with the camera sensors.

Internally, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold is expected to be powered by the Tensor G6 processor, built on a TSMC 2-3nm process, and will approach standard with 16GB of RAM – double the amount found in many current flagship phones. This increased RAM should improve multitasking performance across both screens. The device will reportedly maintain the same 8-inch inner display and 6.4-inch cover screen with LTPO OLED technology, though software optimizations are expected to enhance responsiveness.

Whereas the camera system appears to remain similar to the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, featuring a 48MP main sensor, Google is focusing on its AI camera features, such as 100x zoom and 4K Cinematic Blur, as key differentiators. The expected starting price for the Pixel 11 Pro Fold is $1,799, slightly lower than the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s anticipated $1,999 price tag. iPhone in Canada notes that the design refinements suggest Google is taking a more cautious approach to innovation, prioritizing a refined user experience over radical changes.

The development of more refined foldable designs signals a maturing market, as manufacturers address early adopter concerns about durability and usability. Google’s focus on software optimization and AI integration could prove crucial in attracting consumers to its foldable offering.
