Fuel Prices in Poland
Fuel prices at stations across Poland have been rising following attacks in the Middle East, driven by increasing crude oil prices on global markets. The conflict has disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil supplies.
reports indicate that Persian Gulf states are cutting production due to storage challenges resulting from the blockage of the strait.
As reported by Business Insider Poland on Monday, Orlen is maintaining minimal margins on diesel at its company-owned stations. Diesel currently presents the biggest challenge for Orlen related to the Middle East conflict, with station margins at just a few grosz above the profitability threshold.
Crude Oil Prices Drive Fuel Price Increases
On Monday, the price of Brent crude exceeded $100 per barrel, reaching as high as $119, the highest level since 2022. Prices eased slightly in the afternoon, settling around $100 per barrel by 8:00 p.m.
Following the outbreak of conflict in the Middle East, fuel prices have been increasing at nearly all gas stations in Poland. Since February 28, 2026 – the date of the attacks – fuel prices have risen by as much as 1 złoty.
From February 27 to March 5, gasoline prices on the European Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp market rose by 19 percent, diesel by 48 percent, and aviation fuel by as much as 76 percent.
Donald Tusk: Orlen Has Tools to Respond
Prime Minister Tusk assured on Monday that “we will not allow anyone to profit from this critical situation.” — Neither Orlen, nor anyone else has the right to profit from this situation — he added. He noted, however, that Poland has no influence over global fuel prices.
The Prime Minister stated last week, on March 3, that Orlen would utilize tools, including those related to margins, to prevent potential spikes in global oil prices from having a “massive” impact on fuel prices in Poland.
