COACH STATEMENTS
Feczkó Tamás: “The first half saw neither goal threatened. We came out after the break as we should have. You can only blame ourselves for the defeat. Before the visitors scored, we should have been awarded a free kick. After that, KTE put up a wall in front of their goal. You could feel the fatigue in my players from the past few matches.”
Tímár Krisztián: “The spectators saw a real derby, a heated match. There was more football in the first half, and more battling in the second. We were sharper today than Honvéd. It was an exciting, tight match in which we won. I’m especially pleased that we achieved success with two youngsters who were making their NB II debuts.”
Kecskemét secured a hard-fought victory over league leaders Budapest Honvéd on Saturday, March 9, 2026, at the Bozsik Aréna. The 1-0 result sees Tímár Krisztián’s side continue their strong form in the NB II.
After a scoreless first half in front of 2,508 fans, Kovács B. Broke the deadlock for Kecskemét in the 71st minute. Honvéd pushed for an equalizer, but were unable to find a way through a resolute KTE defense. The match concluded with a red card for Honvéd’s Kállai K. In added time.
Following the match, Honvéd coach Feczkó Tamás expressed his disappointment with the result, citing fatigue among his players. Tímár Krisztián, however, praised his team’s sharpness and the impact of their young debutants. The win keeps Kecskemét firmly in contention in the NB II standings.
