Fortnite Players Face Price Hikes and Battle Pass Changes
Epic Games has announced upcoming price increases for V-Bucks, Fortnite’s in-game currency and adjustments to the Battle Pass reward system. The changes, set to take effect on March 19, reflect the rising costs of running the popular online game, which generated $6.01 billion in revenue in 2025.
The price adjustments will impact various V-Bucks packs, offering fewer V-Bucks for the same price point. Specifically, the changes include:
- The $8.99 pack will now offer 800 V-Bucks, down from 1,000.
- The $22.99 pack will now offer 2,400 V-Bucks, down from 2,800.
- The $36.99 pack will now offer 4,500 V-Bucks, down from 5,000.
- The $89.99 pack will now offer 12,500 V-Bucks, down from 13,500.
the price of a smaller pack has increased to $0.99 for 50 V-Bucks, up from $0.50 for 50 V-Bucks.
The Battle Pass is also undergoing changes. It will now cost 800 V-Bucks, a reduction from the original price of 1,000 V-Bucks. Players will still be able to earn 800 V-Bucks back by completing the pass, effectively covering the cost. Still, Epic Games has removed the ability to earn an additional 500 V-Bucks through Bonus Rewards after completing the Battle Pass.
Fortnite Crew subscribers will also be affected, receiving 800 V-Bucks monthly instead of the previous 1,000, despite maintaining the same subscription price.
“The cost of running Fortnite has gone up a lot, and we’re raising prices to help pay the bills,” Epic Games stated in a blog post. This move comes as the company navigates increasing operational expenses while maintaining the game’s expansive ecosystem.
The announcement has sparked criticism from the Fortnite community, though Epic Games has not yet issued a further response. Players who make purchases in Fortnite, Rocket League, and Fall Guys through the Epic Games Store or Epic’s payment system on platforms like Android, PC, iOS, and the web will receive 20% back in Epic Rewards, which can be used across Epic’s game portfolio. This modern rewards program may offer some offset to the price increases for dedicated players.
