Karlovy Vary advanced to the second round of the Czech Extraliga playoffs on Tuesday, securing a 5-2 victory over Vítkovice Riders. The win marked the second in the best-of-three series, closing out the first round for the Energie team.

Latvian forward Haralds Egle played a key role in the victory, scoring a unique goal and adding an assist. Egle’s goal, described as “curious” by multiple sources, came from behind the net and deflected off two opposing players before entering the net. A video of the goal is available on X.

Egle also contributed with a crucial assist on the team’s first goal, and finished the game with 14 minutes of ice time, one shot on goal, and won three of ten faceoffs. He ended with a neutral plus-minus rating.

Fellow Latvian Roberts Mamčics also found the back of the net for Karlovy Vary, scoring in the third period. Mamčics played nearly 19 minutes, recording three shots, two hits, a penalty, and two blocked shots, finishing with a positive plus-minus rating of +1.

Ralf Freiberg, also representing Latvia, played for Vítkovice Riders and received a two-minute penalty during his 15 minutes on the ice, finishing with a -1 rating.

In other Czech Extraliga playoff action, Renars Krastenbergs and Olomouc fell to Tršinec Ocelarzi 3-2 in overtime, putting their series behind 0-2. Krastenbergs scored a goal for Olomouc, tying the game at 2-2. This loss puts Olomouc in a tricky position as they face elimination in the best-of-three series.

Haralds Egle also had a strong performance in the first game of the series, recording a key assist in the team’s 3-1 win over Vítkovice Riders on March 10th.
