Missiles Launched at Israel from Iran, Air Defenses Activated
Israel’s military reported detecting multiple missile launches from Iran and activated its air defenses as attacks unfolded against Iran and Lebanon. “Defensive systems are operating to intercept the threat,” the military stated on its official Telegram account. Air raid sirens sounded in Jerusalem, according to journalists from Afp, and the sound of distant explosions was reported. Israeli emergency services reported no injuries following the missile launches, but stated their teams were treating “a small number of people who were injured while rushing to shelters.”
Israel’s Channel 12 news reported several injuries due to the Iranian attacks near Tel Aviv. Hours later, the Israel Defense Forces announced they had “identified missiles launched from Iran toward the State of Israel” and that missile interceptors were active.
The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it had targeted a communications satellite center in Haifa, military bases in Israel, and U.S. Targets in other parts of the Middle East, including the Iraqi Kurdistan region and the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet base in Bahrain. “We will continue our attacks with determination and power, and in this war we do not contemplate anything but the complete surrender of the enemy,” the IRGC stated on its Sepah News website.
The escalating exchange of attacks comes amid heightened regional tensions. According to reports, the IRGC carried out large-scale strategic missile strikes against Israel and U.S. Bases as part of its “True Promise 4” operation, utilizing missiles including Fattah, Emad, Kheibar Shekan, Khorramshahr and Qadr. A missile reportedly landed in an unpopulated area near Beit Shemesh, west of Jerusalem, according to Israel Hayom.
Sirens also sounded in the Haifa region in northern Israel following rocket launches from Lebanon. Israeli police forces, border police, and bomb disposal units are conducting searches across the Jerusalem district to locate debris and projectiles. The development underscores growing regional instability and raises concerns about a wider conflict. The Times of Israel is providing live updates on the situation.
