Actor Mieczysław Hryniewicz has revealed he feels his first marriage happened too soon, before he was ready to start a family.
The actor’s son, Jakub, is the result of that early relationship, though the identity of Jakub’s mother has remained private.
“Since 1985, they’ve both lived in the United States. They left together. I have no contact with my son, but that’s his choice, because I did everything I could to maintain that connection,” Hryniewicz shared in an interview with “Dobry Tydzień.”
He Found Love Again with Ewa Strebejko After Two Years
Hryniewicz met Ewa Strebejko in 1998 while visiting friends.
“The weather was beautiful, we were picking apples in the garden. I saw a tall, slender woman in jeans. She had something about her that caught my attention – a nonchalant way of being, a way of conversing,” he recalled in a conversation with “Echo Dnia.”
“She was simply intriguing,” he added.
Soon after, Hryniewicz received an invitation from the director of the Poznań Theater in Poland to play the lead role in Molière’s “Don Juan.” He traveled to the city. It turned out that Ewa had designed the set for the production. When he saw her, he felt it was fate.
“I immediately asked her out. After two years, we got married. I consider it my greatest happiness that someone still wanted me in old age,” he told “Dobry Tydzień.”
The couple wed on February 29, 2000, and celebrate their anniversaries every four years – with a flourish, they joke.
He Believes He Has Only One Daughter – A Stepdaughter
Mieczysław Hryniewicz hadn’t anticipated meeting the woman of his life until just before his 50th birthday. He had come to terms with the idea of spending the rest of his days single.
“I once thought that if I were to fall in love with someone, I would want her to be an artist, a sensitive woman with knowledge, imagination. And that’s what happened,” he confessed during an appearance on “Dzień Dobry TVN.”
Several years ago, the peaceful, happy life of Mieczysław and Ewa was disrupted by rumors that the actor had adult twin daughters born out of wedlock.
“When you deny something, it’s usually true, but I have no idea about this,” Hryniewicz commented to ShowNews, adding that he has only one daughter – actually a stepdaughter, Matylda – and is also a grandfather through her.
The actor, known for his role as Włodek Zięba in “Na Wspólnej,” does not deny knowing the mother of the women living in southeastern Poland, whom the media attributed as his daughters. He met her in 1979 on the set of Andrzej Barański’s film “Wolne chwile,” where she was the second assistant director. He has never confirmed whether their relationship was anything more than a casual acquaintance.
