Authorities in Panevėžys, Lithuania, are investigating the death of a man whose body was discovered in the Nevėžis River on March 10.
Police responded to a report at approximately 2:30 p.m. Local time near Nemuno Street, where the unidentified male body was found, according to a statement from the Panevėžys County Police Department.
Initial examinations of the body revealed no obvious signs of trauma, and foul play is not currently suspected. However, an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of death and identify the deceased.
The body has been transferred to forensic medical experts for a full autopsy, which is expected to provide further insight into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death. Investigators will then work to reconstruct how the individual ended up in the river.
