Colombian journalist Silvia Corzo surprised fans this week by revealing she held a symbolic ceremony to commit to herself.
The event took place the weekend of March 8th in a countryside setting and included family, close friends, and several well-known faces from the world of television. Among those in attendance were television host Iván Lalinde and actress Margarita Ortega, who shared moments from the gathering on social media.

While images initially appeared to show a traditional wedding—complete with a long dress, bouquet of flowers, and a ceremony with guests—Corzo explained that it was actually an act of sologamy, a symbolic practice of committing to oneself as a way to reaffirm self-love and self-care. This practice reflects a growing trend of prioritizing individual well-being and challenging conventional relationship norms.
During the ritual, the communicator delivered personal vows that touched those present.
“I say yes to life and I say yes to myself. I accept to always be there for myself. I promise to take care of myself, listen to myself, and never abandon myself again. I choose to love myself so that I can love better,” she expressed.

Corzo later explained in an interview with La FM—where she also works—that the ceremony was the result of a personal process she had been developing for several years.
She recounted that it all began with a reflection on January 7th, when she asked herself if she had ever chosen herself with the same determination that many people commit to a partner.
“This is a process I have been through for many years to connect with self-love,” she shared. From that question, she realized she had never made clear promises to herself, such as taking care of herself, respecting herself, or providing emotional support.
That’s why she decided to perform a symbolic ritual representing that personal commitment.
“What I wanted was a ritual to choose myself,” she explained.
¿Cómo fue la ceremonia en la que se casó Silvia Corzo?
Initially, the journalist had planned a extremely small ceremony with only ten close people. However, as days passed, more friends and acquaintances wanted to join her, so the gathering ended up being larger than planned.
The event included several elements typical of a wedding. Corzo purchased an engagement ring and wrote a letter to herself with promises related to listening to herself, respecting herself, and prioritizing her emotional well-being.
“For the first time, I had written to myself,” she said.
Un cambio de rumbo en su vida
For years, Corzo was one of the most recognized figures in Colombian television journalism, particularly for her work on programs like Noticias Caracol and Séptimo Día.
However, the communicator decided to step away from television after experiencing anxiety episodes related to media pressure. Since then, she has focused her career on personal development, mental health, and emotional well-being. This career shift reflects a broader conversation within the media industry about prioritizing mental health and work-life balance.

Corzo clarified that her decision does not imply giving up future romantic relationships.
“It’s an act of self-love that you can then offer to another,” she explained.
For Corzo, the ritual represents the beginning of a stage in which she seeks to live with greater awareness and authenticity.
“If I ever walk hand in hand with someone again, it will be from freedom and respect for who I am,” she affirmed.
¿Qué es la sologamia?
Sologamy is a symbolic practice in which a person holds a ceremony to commit to themselves. While it adopts elements of a traditional wedding—such as vows, a ring, or the presence of guests—its purpose is not to formalize a union with another person, but to reaffirm self-love, self-esteem, and commitment to personal well-being.
This type of ritual has no legal validity and does not imply giving up future romantic relationships. Rather, it seeks to highlight the importance of prioritizing self-care and self-acceptance. In recent years, sologamy has gained visibility in various countries as a way to celebrate emotional independence and mark recent beginnings in personal life.
