This Friday, the Fundación Segunda Etapa (FSE) will present “Proyecto natal Rosario,” a program they’ve been developing since January in anticipation of Fito Páez’s visit as he performs several shows in the city this week, culminating in a free mega-concert at the Monumento a la Bandera. The event will take place at 6:30 PM at Fito’s birthplace, located at Balcarce 681, where they will stage a dance performance and unveil an ephemeral art installation that will ultimately be distributed among those in attendance.
“Proyecto natal rosario” (@proyecto_natal_rosario on Instagram) is described as an “ongoing work” created from recycled materials and texts contributed by participants of the Fundación, and was conceived to celebrate the musician’s history from its roots. That’s why his childhood home was chosen as the location to showcase the final result.
The initiative is a collaborative effort between artist and faculty member at the Universidad Nacional de Rosario’s Humanities and Arts school, María Claudia Mingiaca, and FSE, which works with individuals with disabilities. This isn’t a new partnership; Mingiaca has worked with members of the Fundación for 18 years.
The artwork is guided by the ancient Greek concept of Kairós. Unlike Cronos, which represents linear, sequential time, Kairós embodies the opportune moment, a fleeting chance. In mythology, Kairós is depicted as a young man with a lock of hair on his forehead – it must be seized from the front, as he is bald in the back.
“The guys from FSE left him bald,” organizers playfully remarked, referencing both the artwork and the perfect timing of its presentation coinciding with Fito Páez’s visit to Rosario.
