INDIAN WELLS, CA – Iga Świątek of Poland dominated Karolína Muchová of the Czech Republic in a decisive round of 16 match at the WTA Indian Wells Masters tournament on March 11, 2026, winning in straight sets 6-2, 6-0. The victory propels Świątek into the quarterfinals, where she will face the winner of the match between Kateřina Siniaková and Elina Svitolina.

Muchová – Šwiateková 2:6, 0:6

Świątek entered the sixth career match against Muchová with confidence, securing her initial serve without difficulty. Muchová faced a challenge holding her serve, initially trailing 0-30, but ultimately managed to hold. This match is part of the larger WTA Indian Wells tournament, which draws attention to women’s tennis and athletic performance.

Early in the match, Świątek relied on a strong serve, earning several direct points. Muchová appeared more passive initially, but managed to stay competitive, leveling the score at 2-2.

Though, Muchová soon encountered difficulties. Leading 40-15 on her serve, Świątek rallied to break her, taking a 4-2 lead.

The winner of the Doha tournament, Świątek, distinguished herself through greater aggression. She appeared more energetic on the court, putting pressure on her opponent during extended rallies. Muchová struggled particularly on her return and was hampered by unforced errors.

Muchová was unable to regain control as the set progressed. Down 2-5, she lost her serve to love, losing the first set 2-6 after 40 minutes.

After a break, Muchová’s performance did not improve. Świątek continued to dominate, holding her serve easily and breaking Muchová in the second game of the second set.

Unlike her opponent, Muchová struggled with her serve, and committed a series of errors, including on her forehand. After losing seven consecutive games, she trailed 0-3. Muchová showed flashes of her usual versatile game, but was largely on the defensive against the six-time Grand Slam champion. When she lost her next serve and fell behind 0-4, the outcome of the match was clear.

At 5-0, 15-30 in Świątek’s favor, the Polish player experienced a momentary setback, slipping during a rally and clutching her ankle. She continued playing without apparent further issue. Shortly after, Świątek earned her first match point, which Muchová initially saved. However, she was unable to defend against the second, and after one hour of play, congratulated her opponent on a comfortable 6-2, 6-0 victory.

“I don’t even know what to say. I played really well. I know Karolína very well, she is an excellent player. Actually, she is the only one on tour that I follow more closely. I play really well here in Indian Wells, so I am even happier about how I managed it today,” said a satisfied Świątek after the match.

This marked only the third loss of the season for Muchová, ending a streak of eight consecutive wins that included her triumph at the Masters in Doha.
