PlayStation players now have access to a recent cooperative multiplayer mode for Ghost of Yotei, the latest installment in the Ghost franchise which began with the critically acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima. The mode is available free of charge to all PlayStation 5 owners.
Dubbed Ghost of Yotei Legends, the new mode allows players to team up with friends to complete missions and earn rewards. The game reimagines the story of the Six of Yotei, now portrayed as powerful demons, continuing the franchise’s trend toward a more supernatural setting distinct from the original game. Players can choose from four different classes to tackle these missions, with a maximum of four players supported per game. Ghost of Yotei Legends features three distinct game modes: a narrative-focused experience, a survival mode and an upcoming raid mode scheduled for release in April.
Ghost of Yotei May Not Release on PC
According to recent reports from Bloomberg, Sony may be limiting PC ports to its multiplayer titles, with single-player experiences remaining exclusive to the PlayStation 5. This means that Ghost of Yotei and Saros, the company’s next action title, may not be released on PC. This decision reflects a broader strategy to bolster the value of the PS5 platform.
PlayStation’s move comes as the company seeks to strengthen its exclusive offerings, potentially driven by recent launch performance and increasing competition from Microsoft’s Xbox. The upcoming Xbox console will be a hybrid device with PC capabilities, allowing access to games from Steam, Epic, and other stores – a prospect that Sony may be seeking to avoid by keeping its exclusive titles within the PlayStation ecosystem. The shift highlights the ongoing battle for dominance in the gaming market and the importance of platform exclusivity.
