Sha Tin Racecourse is set to host the prestigious BMW Hong Kong Derby on Sunday, March 22, 2026. The race, exclusively for four-year-old horses, boasts a substantial purse of HK$26,000,000.
A list of horses with priority to start has been released, with Little Paradise (AUS), trained by Jimmy Ting, leading the way with a rating of 103. Numbers (NZ), under the guidance of Frankie Lor, is also a strong contender with a rating of 100. Stormy Grove (AUS), also trained by Frankie Lor, and Sagacious Life (BRZ), with Pierre Ng as trainer, are also among the top-rated horses with ratings of 98 and 97 respectively.
Other horses listed with priority to start include Invincible Ibis (AUS) trained by Mark Newnham, Patch of Cosmo (NZ) trained by Manfred Man, Beauty Bolt (IRE) trained by Tony Cruz, and Emblazon (AUS) trained by Cody Mo. Top Dragon (AUS), Regal Gem (GB), Juneau Pride (AUS), Dazzling Fit (NZ), Seraph Gabriel (IRE), and Pope Cody (AUS) also feature on the list.
The reserves list includes Windlord (GB), Circuit Grand Slam (IRE), Aerodynamics (SAF), and Glittering Legend (GB). According to the race conditions, the first three horses placed in the Hong Kong Classic Cup are given priority to start in the Derby.
