Starting Grid for the Chinese GP F1 2026 Sprint Race
George Russell continued his strong start to the 2026 Formula 1 season, securing sprint pole position at the Chinese Grand Prix on Friday. The Mercedes driver posted a blistering lap of 1m31s20, besting teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli by 0.289 seconds.
Reigning champion Lando Norris will start third for McLaren, mirroring his performance in free practice, while Lewis Hamilton qualified fourth, just 20 thousandths of a second behind the McLaren driver.
Oscar Piastri lines up sixth alongside Charles Leclerc, with the Ferrari driver one second off the pace. Pierre Gasly secured seventh for Alpine, followed by Max Verstappen in eighth. Oliver Bearman and Isack Hadjar round out the top ten.
Franco Colapinto will start 16th after being eliminated in SQ2, while Sergio Pérez will start last due to a fuel system issue with his Cadillac.
